The Woman Behind Elgin

A historical docudrama exploring the story of Mary Nisbet, Countess of Elgin, and the woman behind one of the most controversial chapters in the history of the Parthenon Marbles.

Through cinematic reconstruction, historical research and dramatic storytelling, the production sheds light on Mary Nisbet’s life, her relationship with Lord Elgin and the events surrounding the removal of the Parthenon sculptures from Athens.

Produced by LUMAD Productions in collaboration with ERT, the project combines history and drama to offer a different perspective on a story that continues to resonate today.
